Against Me! Release Reason For Tour Cancellation.

Yes, Against Me! have finally released a statement about recent events in the band that led to the cancellation of almost all tour dates for the rest of 2010. The statement says that they have parted ways with not only their drummer, George Rebelos, but also their record company Warner Bros.

The statement suggests that neither decision was made with particular bitterness or regret, but it could signal a big change in the band, as there are rumours that the band may be returning to Fat Wreck Chords. As for a drummer, the band have begun touring again and are currently using Jay Weinberg, ex drummer for both Madball and Bruce Springsteen to fill in George’s role.

The band also hope to rearrange dates in the New Year, which will be great, as I really regretted not being able to see the band last year at The Junction in Cambridge.

You can read the full statement here, on Tom Gabel’s blog:

Against Me! – Tour Cancelled

It’s a shame to hear that Against Me! have cancelled their upcoming tour dates for the end of 2010. They haven’t yet given a reason, however I expect it must be quite serious for such a long period of cancellation.

I have also spoken to Darren Johns on Facebook, the lead singer of Crazy Arm (one of the support acts for the tour) and even they have not be told exactly why their tour has been cancelled. They have been given the same reason as everybody else – ‘due to unforeseen circumstances.’ I have been thinking and thinking but can’t seem to work out anything that could happen that would lead to the band being so secretive for so long.

I had tickets for a show on November 1st at the Junction in Cambridge that I was really looking forward to, so I’m gutted that it’s cancelled, but I hope that everything’s okay with the band.

I’ll be checking their website for any updates. If anybody else has any news, a comment would be greatly appreciated.

Radio 1 Punk Show – Mike Davies

Those of you rock and punk fans familiar with British radio stations will know that there isn’t often a lot on offer for us, especially when it comes to Radio 1. However, for any of you who don’t already listen to it, Radio 1 have their own show dedicated to Punk, Ska and Hardcore, presented from Los Angeles by Mike Davies.

The show features loads of great music and interviews, from Rise Against, Frank Turner and The Gaslight Anthem, to Trash Talk, Hot Water Music and The Skints.

The show also features in depth interview’s all different manner of bands, providing an interesting insight into the lives of some of your favourite musicians.

Since Mike has been surrounded by LA’s punk rock scene since he was a child, he also has extensive knowledge of many of the bands played on the show – it adds a very interesting dynamic to the show.

With the time difference of over 5 hours between the UK and US, if you are a Brit, and you want to listen to the show live, you will have to tune in at around 2:00 in the morning! However, if you have a decent internet connection that won’t drive you crazy, you can listen to it on BBC iPlayer, at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006wq52

P.S: ┬áCheck out Mike’s interview of Tom Gabel, from Against Me! – I’m sure you’ll find it very interesting!
